About Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited

Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited (SKHEL) developed the 11 MW Upper Tadi Khola Hydropower Project (UTKHP), a run-of-river scheme in Dupcheswor Rural Municipality, Nuwakot district, Bagmati Province, under a BOOT model. The plant uses two vertical-axis Pelton turbines (each 5.5 MW), a net head of 207.16 m and design discharge of 6.3 m3/s, generating about 61.319 GWh annually, and has been in commercial operation since 28 July 2025. The company obtained its generation license from the Department of Electricity Development on 22 Ashwin 2072 B.S. (October 2015). Its major promoter is Api Power Company Limited, which holds about a 59% stake. Power is evacuated via a 33 kV line to NEA's Samundratar substation.
