A few weeks ago, the Supreme Court ordered the arrest and investigation of the members of the Council of Ministers involved in the transfer of the government land of Lalita Niwas to individuals. After that order, Madhav Nepal suddenly reached Europe. He returned within a week after being assured of a general inquiry.
According to CIB SSP Dinesh Acharya, Nepal and Bhattarai's statements were taken last night. The government led by Madhav Nepal Nepal decided to expand the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar and to transfer the land outside the walls to the Mohis who were there instead of admission. His self-interest has been clearly seen since the leader of Nepal ordered him to raise his own comments to make that decision.
When the same decision was implemented, 27 ropani 7 annas 2 paisa 1 daam of land had to be added to the Prime Minister's residence. But the Council of Ministers decided to manage them elsewhere by erecting Mohi which is not on the government land, and according to the conclusion of the investigation officers, about half of the land to be added within the wall of Baluwatar was transferred to the name of Mohi and went into the possession of the 'land mafia'.
Likewise, on 5th Magh 2069, the Land Port Office, Dillibazar decided to register the 60 acres of land inside Lalita Niwas in the name of Pashupati Tikinya Guthi. The then Council of Ministers led by Bhattarai decided to give in-principle approval to this. However, Bhattarai has been insisting that he did not make that decision with wrong intentions.
The CIB has not yet proceeded with the action against the former Chief Secretary, Secretary, Ministers connected with this case. Even though the leaders of Nepal and Bhattarai have been backing away saying that their decisions were political, in recent times, due to public pressure and court orders, the possibility of action against them has increased.
