One quintal of gold seized case: One more person arrested
With the arrest of four more people on Thursday, the number of people arrested in this case has reached 10.
4 July, Kathmandu. One more person has been arrested in connection with the seizure of at least one quintal of gold that had passed through the customs check at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The team of the Revenue Investigation Department has recently arrested Krishna Kumar Shrestha, another owner of Trans Global Services. According to department sources, he was arrested from Koteshwar.
Shrestha, who spoke to Online Khabar shortly before his arrest, said that they only brought material called 'motor parts'. "Since 2002, we have been working with cargo, there was no way to know whether there was gold inside it", he said, "Cathay Airlines also gave us Motor Pots in Airwill." The agent who sent from there also said the same.
He said that the Hong Kong clearing agent has also been instructed to understand the person sending the goods. "He replied that the WeChat number was closed, I told that agent to come to Kathmandu", he said, "I didn't know that there was gold." When we found out that it came from our cargo, we reached the customs ourselves.
The company's owner, Pushkar Bhatt, who reached the customs office in the afternoon, has been arrested by the department. The department has also arrested Rajan Shrestha, the owner of Alice Trans Group.
The break with gold came to Nepal via Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong by two couriers. Chinese citizen Jiquan Lin, who was about to flee, was detained by the Immigration Department on Thursday afternoon. After that, it was entrusted to the Revenue Investigation Department.
So far, the department has been saying that he is the mastermind of the gold smuggling case. It is revealed that he came to Nepal on a business visa.
On Tuesday, the Revenue Investigation Department seized nearly 100 quintals of gold that had been taken out of the customs office of Tribhuvan International Airport. Earlier, 6 people were arrested in the case.
Among those arrested are taxi driver Ashok Lama, customs agent Rajendra Rai, company owner Dilip Bhujel of Bhojpur, his uncle Ramkumar Bhujel of Dolakha, Harkaraj Rai of Bhojpur and Thapten Chiring, an Indian citizen of Tibetan origin.
