In the district of Bajhang in the Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal, there have been two earthquakes recently. According to the National Seismological Center, the first earthquake occurred at 10:52 PM local time with a magnitude of 4.3 Richter scale, centred in Chainpur, Bajhang. The second earthquake occurred at 12:23 AM with a magnitude of 3.9 Richter scale, also centered in Chainpur, Bajhang.

However, according to the National Seismological Center in Lamjung, on the previous Tuesday at 2:40 PM local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 Richter scale was recorded with its epicenter at Talakot in Bajhang. A second earthquake of magnitude 6.3 Richter scale struck at 3:06 AM, affecting Bajhang and Chainpur once again. In this earthquake, one person lost their life, and several individuals were injured, with extensive damage to hundreds of homes. Additionally, aftershocks have been reported in Bajhang multiple times.

Although preliminary reports on the physical damages have been collected, a comprehensive assessment is still pending. Dr. Lok Vijay Adhikari, a seismologist at the centre, stated that the western regions of Nepal have not experienced earthquakes for over 500 years, and recent seismic activity in this area has raised concerns. Earthquake-prone areas have been identified in the eastern and western Himalayan and hilly regions of Nepal, prompting the need for earthquake preparedness measures.
