Kathmandu. Smuggled gold advertised as 100 kg has been found to be 60 kg 716 grams. Thaneshwar Acharya, head of the Taksar branch of Nepal Rastra Bank, said that 60 kg and 716 grams of gold were found in the Taksar branch of Babarmahal on Tuesday.

On July 3, the Revenue Investigation Department seized 155 kg of 'break shoes' including gold while leaving the Tribhuvan International Airport. The department estimated that it contained more than 100 kg of gold. However, when the gold was separated from the 'break shoe' recovered on Monday, it was found to contain 60 kg 789 grams of gold.

The smuggled gold was swindled by the Central Investigation Bureau of Police, CIB, Revenue Investigation Department, Nepal and Rashtra Bank and representatives of Taksar Division. After 19 days, the investigation of the gold case was handed over to the CIB by the Revenue Investigation Department.

At present, the main opposition party CPN-UML has demanded the formation of a high-level investigation committee, while the ruling coalition has concluded that a high-level investigation committee is not necessary. Currently, the CIB is investigating the crime of organized crime and revenue evasion.
